Fredericton Arts and Learning

Artists' Agreement

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre makes exhibition space available for visual art and fine craft on the following basis:

How to apply
Artists must fill out the Call for Submissions form.
Exhibitions are selected by a panel of respected artists and art educators knowledgeable in the discipline involved.
I
n choosing exhibitions, the Charlotte Street Arts Centre will strive to reflect its mandate: integrating the arts and the community and encouraging cultural development guided by arts professionals. We seek a balance of professional artists, emerging artists, multi-cultural artists and amateur artists as well as children’s art and student work.

Insurance
Fredericton Arts and Learning carries basic insurance which will provide $10,000 coverage with a $1,000 deductible. Anything beyond this is the responsibility of the artist.

Sales
Sales of artwork are encouraged. FAL takes no commission, but donations are appreciated. We provide information so visitors can contact artists to arrange sales.

Information in advance
In order to install and promote the exhibition effectively, we need information in advance. A month before the hanging, we need information for labels: titles of works, media, and prices. You can send this information to the Centre by email [csac@nb.aibn.ca], attention the Exhibitions Committee. We also require at least one image from the exhibition, with a 300 pixel resolution, and an artist's statement of no more than 250 words. This information allows us to create a poster and prepare media releases. You will have an opportunity to review both of these documents before they are issued.

Openings
FAL will cover a modest opening (sangria, a non-alcoholic punch and nibbles). Anything beyond that is the responsibility of the artist(s) exhibiting. Any purchase of liquor must go through the Centre's liquor permit. No SALE of alcohol is allowed. Openings are arranged by the Exhibitions Commttee at a time suitable to the exhibiting artist(s).

Publicity
FAL will send out public service announcements, place notices in the Fredericton Arts Alliance Arts News, and on the FAL website. FAL will also list exhibitions in the arts calendars of the Daily Gleaner, Telegraph Journal and Acadie Nouvelle (provided translation can be arranged).
FAL will arrange design and printing of posters for each exhibition. I
nvitations are the responsibility of the exhibitor, and must be approved by FAL before distribution.

Delivery of work
Artists are responsible for delivering their work to the Centre, ready for hanging with screw-eyes and wires, at least 24 hours before the show is hung, and for collecting work within 48 hours of the show coming down, unless other arrangements are specifically made. If your work requires a different approach to hanging, please consult with the Exhibitions Committee: Stephen May [stlamay@gmail.com or 506-459-7379] or Katie FitzRandolph [kfitzr@nbnet.nb.ca or 506-455-8045].
