Artists Agreement

The Charlotte Street Arts Centre makes exhibition space available for visual art and fine craft on the following basis:

How to apply
Artists must fill out the Call for Submissions form.
Exhibitions are selected by a panel of respected artists and art educators knowledgeable in the discipline involved.
I
n choosing exhibitions, the Charlotte Street Arts Centre will strive to reflect its mandate: integrating the arts and the community and encouraging cultural development guided by arts professionals. We seek a balance of professional artists, emerging artists, multi-cultural artists and amateur artists as well as children’s art and student work.

Insurance
Fredericton Arts and Learning carries basic insurance which will provide $10,000 coverage with a $1,000 deductible. Anything beyond this is the responsibility of the artist.

Sales
Sales of artwork can by arranged through the FAL office. FAL takes no commission, but donations are encouraged.

Openings
FAL will cover a modest opening (non-alcoholic punch and nibbles).  For an $80 fee, FAL will organize a more elaborate opening. ($20 for special occasion permit, $30 for wine/beer, $30 for cheese/finger food). Anything beyond that is the responsibility of the artist(s) exhibiting.

Publicity
FAL will send out public service announcements, place notices in the Fredericton Arts Alliance Arts News, and on the FAL website. FAL will also list exhibitions in the arts calendars of the Daily Gleaner, Telegraph Journal and Acadie Nouvelle (provided translation can be arranged).
Posters and invitations are the responsibility of the exhibitor, and must be approved by FAL before distribution.

Delivery of work
Artists are responsible for delivering their work to the Centre at least 24 hours before the show is hung, and for collecting work within 48 hours of the show coming down, unless other arrangements are specifically made.

Visual artists, craftspeople, or groups of artists who are interested in having an exhibition at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre must complete this form.

At this time, FAL can offer a modest artist fee of $500 for only two exhibitions per year.  Professional artists may apply for this category. We use the same definition of professional artist as the N.B. Arts Board (Arts NB).
