About the School
The Stanford School of Irish Dance was formed in September 2001 in Fredericton. From its humble beginnings with just 16 dancers, it has grown to more than 80 students of all ages and abilities from beginner to champion-level dancers! Stanford School dancers have performed and competed throughout Canada, the United States, Scotland and Ireland.
Today, the Stanford School operates mainly out of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Beginner classes for children and adults are on Tuesdays.

About the teachers
The Stanford School is directed by Sharon Stanford-Rutter, TCRG. Sharon is the only Irish dance teacher in New Brunswick certified by An Coimisiun le Rince Gaelacha in Dublin, the governing body for Irish dance world-wide. Only three Irish dance schools in all of Atlantic Canada are registered Irish dance schools. This designation means that Stanford School dancers are eligible to compete at sanctioned competitions (feisanna) all over the world.
Sharon is joined by associate teachers Samantha Stanford and Colleen Burns, both champion level dancers and business students at the University of New Brunswick. Rounding out the staff are assistants Ali Samuel and Hannah Jarvis.
